A common mistake made by startups is that they think they need to hit every area so all bases are covered. But it’s not just about the online components; while we’re all a little bit immune to printed media, if you do it right, you can take advantage of printing, copying and graphics services so that your brand is communicated to the right audience. Case in point, old age pensioners. While many are using the internet, there is still a proportion of those that are not. As such, we’ve got to give consideration to other forms of media so we’re not neglecting our audience.

Always stage an event. This is doubly so if you are trying to get local attention. By getting people involved on a local level, you’re able to communicate more personally, but also ensure that you can drum up enough support and publicity. As such, you can make the event as outrageous as possible, especially if you’re trying to get as many people onto your products as you can. Also, there’s nothing wrong with endorsements, especially on a celebrity level. That way, that classic “seal of approval” can mean that you may get to a few more people than by standard marketing methods.

By having a three-pronged attack, understanding your audience, analyzing the competition, but also ensuring that you hit the ground running, you’re able to get as much traction out of it as possible. If you are a business that’s well established, but you’re struggling with the marketing, perhaps a rebranding is in order? But for those who are starting out, and need to make a massive impact, the marketing has to stand out. And these days, with such an oversaturated market, we have to promote our business in so many different ways, and keep on top of it, that it’s never a process you want to get out of the way. If anything, marketing is forever evolving, and as such, you have to let this inform your business accordingly.
